About this reference

This reference holds the climate data used to design heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems. The figures are taken from the current edition of SP 131.13330.2020 "Building climatology".

  • Winter design temperature (at 0.92 exceedance) is used for heat-loss calculations and heating plant sizing.
  • HDD (heating degree-days) — the primary figure for annual energy use and insulation thickness. Computed against an indoor temperature of 20 °C.
  • Humidity zone affects the choice of envelope materials and the dew-point calculation.
